Tioman Field studies - Day 5 and 6

On the day 5, it was free and easy day. We went snorkelling at the Tioman Marine Park. It was beautiful because once we entered the water, laods of fish sawm around us. There were silver trevallys, rabbitfishes, parrotfishes, diamond fish, damselfishes everywhere! We even saw a map pufferfish! We were happily feeding the fishes with bread, and they were practically eating the bread from our hands. When all the bread was finished, the greedy rabbitfish thought my fingers were food and tried taking a bite of my fingers! I was laughing and coughing thru my snorkel at their foolishness...haha..but they're so adorable. After learning their habit of doing this, I kept luring them back with my fingers and having fun with them. Their bite is harmless, their teeth feels blunt.

Then we went to Ringgis to snorkel. Ringgis is indeed beautiful and one of the best dive sites in Tioman. Here, we spotted the black-tip reefshark, and also saw the silver trevallys and needlefishes hunting a school of small fish. I was chasing after the shark because I wanted to have a closer look. I thought I also saw a school of small barracudas, but then Toro said that they are perhaps larger needlefishes.

After we came back, we went diving at 1.3 Bay and Lobster Bay with Peiya, Juanhui, and Jeremy Badcock. Diving was ok, but bad point is we had 10 divers to 1 DM, and it was really not a very good experience. Anyway, we saw one giant moray eel that was not very frenly towards one of the photographers, whip gobies, one really pretty lionfish, some naudibranch, and butterflyfish which Jeremy Badcock tugged on my fins to show me. The coral and sea fans formations were quite pretty. Photos will be up later.

We arrived back tot he resort late at night. The rest have already started the BBQ dinner. Dinner was good and delicious!

Day 6 was the last day. We were preparing to go back to Singapore.

I can say that this is one of the most fulfilling modules we can ever find in NUS. Can go Tioman, go there enjoy, relax, have fun with frens, learn interesting stuff doing field work, stress free, only need to do one presentation and two reports, nothing to memorise...Its the best! Where to find?! hahaha...So blessed!
