The Banishment
Went to watch this 2h 40 mins film at picturehouse on Mon, and it really made me think n think...wat is the show trying to say?

This website is the best review given so far, searched a whole lot of websites but all give like crap reviews. I want a detailed explanation on the movie, but can't find any satisfying answers. The movie got me really interested and digging for the truth. It was long but I enjoyed every moment of it, and trying to piece together everything.
The banishment relates to the story of the banishment of adam and eve from the garden of eden, and perhaps the garden of eden refers to the paradise-like place and house they are staying in. The scenery is really beautiful. The fall of man might refer to the fall of Alex, the selfish decision he made that resulted in catastrophic events like death and loss. And Eva (their daughter (=Eve?) rejecting the apple given to her. The recitation of the bible verse 1 Corinthians about Love and that is does not insist on its way. The jigsaw puzzle being pieced tog by the children about "The Annunciation" by Da Vinci (in which, significantly, an angel informs the innocent Mary of her conception). All of these sorts of fit into the picture of Adam and Eve, but the rest, the questions still lingers in my head:
Why did the creek that dried up start flowing again?
the opening scene, why start with Mark with a gun-shot wound?
how did mark know where the gun was placed?
why did Kir say that smell of the hse smelled like Mark?
why did Vera want to go to the extreme to say that the child is not Alex's?
Why did the movie ended with the scene with the peasants singing?
Haiz...difficult one...haha.
